Victoria Station Roof Refurbishment

NEW PHOTOS!

The office building I work in is built on top of Victoria Station. My desk faces south and looks out over the roof of much of the station, including platforms 15-19. Strapped in scaffolding for the best part of a year they have now finally started ripping the old roof off.

The current structure is very old. The Brighton Side concourse was originally finished around 1860 and subsequently rebuilt in 1908 and so the underlying structure has been there for over 100 years!

Now they are manually ripping the roof off. A slow process...

There is a quite amazing scaffolding structure under the roof that is being used during the refurbishment. It spans four lines on the Kent side and is a complete work of art.

Would be great to see some aerial shots now !
